Apple Announces New Haswell Processor MacBook Airs at WWDC 2013

Today’s WWDC keynote saw Apple announce new 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Airs. The new models have been designed with enhanced performance and better battery life as priorities. The new Air lineup uses Intel’s next-generation Haswell processors that offer enhanced performance while offering significantly improved battery life.

Earlier this week, Intel officially released their latest 4th-gen Haswell processors – including a more power-friendly version perfect for the MacBook Air. Apple’s WWDC 2013 conference is coming up this Summer, and with Apple’s slow pace for hardware releases, so far this year, that likely means Apple will be playing catch up with their product cycles. According to “supply chain sources” speaking to DigiTimes, Apple is preparing to refresh its lineup of MacBooks around the time the event is expected to be held.

Apple has released a pretty important EFI firmware update for mid 2012 Macbook Airs. It fixes a color issue with external HDMI displays, and also solves problems relating to Windows (surprise, suprise) and Thunderbolt.
