iPad 2 Purchasing Decision: Buy From Apple Or A Retailer?
iPad 2 - March 25th

Tomorrow, 25th of March, Europe, and a few choice international countries, get the iPad 2. For many the main question varies from white or black?, WiFi or 3G?, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB?, and to a lesser extent; what case will I buy?

But before you get to the “checkout” you first decide which checkout you will be visiting tomorrow.

Your choices:

  • An online checkout at 1AM
  • A checkout guarded by a spotty faced nerd armed with a shopping bag and acne cream?

Mmmm. Choices.

If we learnt anything from the US launch of the iPad, then the obvious choice is to…. mmmm, eh….. well, we didn’t really learn anything from the US launch. Because it was a hectic, disorganized mess that will require more analysis and debate than the sanity of Charlie Sheen.

Sure, there were (and still are) 4 to 5 week delays for the delivery of the iPad 2 from Apple’s online store, but there are also thousands of restless iPadless Apple fanboys roaming various US streets as they wait for the retailers to stock up.

So what should you do? You can queue early and pray, or be patient and order your iPad 2 at 1AM on Friday 25h and be prepared for a min 2 week and a maximum 5 week wait.

But if you’re not the patient type, you should jump off your rocking chair and get down to your store tomorrow ASAP and claim your place in the line.

Wear that FanBoy badge with honor and hand Apple a few hundred €/£ for the privilege.

I will see you in the shop!
