New York Times Offers Subscribers One-Year Free Access for Web, iPhone, & iPad

The NY Times is still on course to errect its paywall for online and mobile visitors. But in an effort to keep face with its loyal userbase, the NY Times has announced that it will offer long-term subscribers with free access to the website through the browser and through mobile devices such as iPhone & iPad.

Tuesday saw the NY Times emailing some long term subscribers with an option to take up their offer .

March 28th will see the errection of the paywall with readers presented with three options. The cheapest coming in at $15 every four weeks for access to the web and mobile site. Other packages include $20 for web access and iPad access, or $35 every four weeks for complete access. If you were to pay for a years access, the charge would range between $195, $260, and $455 for the three packages.

However, the paywall doesn’t look too sturdy. A report in the Nieman Journalism Lab tells of how you can bypass the paywall by using a simple hack. In fact, the hack is a mere 4 lines of code! The hack will bypass the 20 article limit imposed by the paywall.
