Adobe Releases Creative Suite 5.5; New CS Release Schedule

Adobe has unveiled the latest release of it’s Creative Suite line of products, introducing new features in many of the applications. They’ve also altered the release schedule for future major releases of their popular suite.

The update, according to Adobe, focuses on 3 main areas: Proliferation of devices; Design and Interactivity; and Monetization.

Adobe, perhaps caving to industry pressure, has updated their DreamWeaver web content creation suite to include additional HTML 5 advancements and support, new tablet and smartphone application development capabilities in Flash Professional, and enhanced cross-browser testing.

They’ve also introduced a new program in Creative Suite 5.5: Adobe Audition, which is an audio authoring tool.

Adobe Premiere, After Affects, Story, Media Encoder, and Device Central also got significant update, for those of you that may be audio and video professionals.

In announcing this mid-cycle release, Adobe said it was changing the schedule for its major announcements. The company will go from an 18 month development cycle to a 24 month schedule, but will include mid-cycle releases in between.

Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 will be available within 30 days. Pricing for the suite is $2599 for CS 5.5 Master Collection; $1899 CS 5.5 Design Premium; $1799 for CS 5.5 Web Premium; $1699 for CS 5.5 Production Premium; and $1299 for CS 5.5 Design Standard. Upgrade pricing and volume licensing are available.
