Best Buy To Launch iPad 2 Promotion Tomorrow (April 17th)

The controversy around Best Buy’s handling of their iPad 2 stock is coming to a close. Or is it?

Tomorrow, April 17th, Best Buy will launch an in-store iPad 2 promotion.

A leaked memo, embedded at the drop, that was first published on Engadget gives us some insights into the promotion.

Two things are of note. The first being that although Best Buy have held back stock, the stock will be limited:

Corporate Support Teams know that many stores won’t be in the optimal inventory situation or have available units to meet our customers’ requests for this ad. It will be critical that stores have their current reservation(s) worked through and execute any new reservations effectively to take care of as many customers as possible.

Secondly, Best Buy staff are allowed to purchase the iPad 2s!

Employee purchases are allowed

Surely if the stock is limited, and Best Buy want to save some face with angry customers; they wouldn’t allow their own staff to gobble up their limited stock?

Best Buy also say that they will fullfil reservations ahead of the promotion.
