Final Cut Pro to be updated next week

According to an industry insider, Apple will be updating Final Cut Pro at the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas this Tuesday, April 12. AppleInsider reported that the newest edition will include support for iPad and Thunderbolt for real time HD video processing.

This is interesting because it would seem they are going after both professional as well as mainstream users by supporting the iPad in some capacity. Could we see an update to Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express? It has been over 3 years since the last update of the latter. I bet we see a version of Express as a ‘pro’ level iPad 2 app taking full advantage of its graphics processor as well as a desktop verion in the Mac App Store.

Whatever happens on Tuesday, it’s going to be big. It’s big enough to force sponsors such as Kevin Smith, spokesman for Avid, off the stage to make way for Apple’s announcement at the FCP User Group SuperMeet.

James first bit into Apple when his mom and dad bought an Apple IIe in 1986. He switched to Wintel in the mid 90s when Apple was in a tailspin and back again to an iBook in 2005 when things were looking brighter. Hopefully there is no turning back to the dark side now.
