Reuters: iPhone 5 to ship in September

Contrary to earlier reports that the iPhone 5 won’t enter production until September and ship in October, three sources with “direct knowledge” of Apple’s supply chain have now confirmed a summer production ramp-up for a September ship date.

The sources have confirmed that component suppliers “would begin production either in July or August before shipping components to Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, flagship of Foxconn Technology Group, for assembly.” One of the tipsters also confirmed earlier reports that the iPhone 5 “will look largely similar to the iPhone 4.”

We shall see.

James first bit into Apple when his mom and dad bought an Apple IIe in 1986. He switched to Wintel in the mid 90s when Apple was in a tailspin and back again to an iBook in 2005 when things were looking brighter. Hopefully there is no turning back to the dark side now.
