New iMacs have Quad Core, Thunderbolt, AMD Graphics, FaceTime HD Camera

Screen shot 2011 05 03 at 1 49 29 PMThe Apple Store is back and the new Sandy Bridge iMacs are here and screamin’ fast.

All iMacs now feature at least a Quad-Core i5 “Sandy Bridge” Intel processor, AMD Radeon HD discrete graphics with up to 3x faster performance, not one but TWO* Thunderbolt all-in-one I/O ports, and a FaceTime HD camera that supports full native resolution on the built-in display or 2560 by 1600 px on a 30-inch external display.

The base model is a 21.5-inch LED backlit display with a 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive and an AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory for $1199 – not too shabby. You’ll have to take the next step up to the $1499 model in order to configure your iMac with a 256GB solid state drive which will set you back an additional $500, bringing the total bill to $1999.

Will you be getting one today?

Check out all the specs here.

*CORRECTION: The 27-inch model has two Thunderbolt ports. The 21.5-inch iMac has only one.
