Apple’s Back-To-School Special: $200 Off An iPad OR Free iPod Touch, Announcing At WWDC?

According to Boy Genius Report, Apple’s annua back-to-school special may be unveiled at WWDC next month, and Apple, in addition to offering the traditional $229 credit towards a free iPod Touch, may also offer $200 off the purchase of any iPad.

This is in addition to the discount pricing that Apple makes available to students and educators, and would present a fantastic way to get iPads more immersed in the university setting, being adopted by more students, and ultimately might encourage more universities to begin offering iPad-formatted earning materials, as well as lighting a fire under textbook publishers to make more textbooks available in digital formats.

While this would be an interesting development, it’s important to note that theere is not, as yet, any evidence to back this up, so it should be treated as pure speculation for the time being. Now, if only they could produce enough iPad 2’s to meet present (and perhaps increased future) demand…
