Apple’s New iPad 2 Retail Displays Are Hackable With A Few Swipes

It turns out the the iPad 2’s that Apple is using for product signs and information, while they have a different part number, are really just normal iPad 2’s, and you can reach the home screen with a few simple swipes.

From 9to5Mac:

An Apple Store Manager relayed to us that the new iPad 2 displays are able to turn into “normal iPads” with a few swipes in secret combination. To find out if true, I went to the Soho store and tried it out. Yep, it works. The button still doesn’t work so it is easy to get yourself stuck…

While the gestures needed to perform this feat are not yet common knowledge, it’s interesting to note this intriguing fact, and also that Store managers seem to be quite aware of the phenomena. Check out the below video to see it happen.
