First Benchmarks Surface For New 2011 iMacs

Macworld has just posted the results of its first benchmark test for the newly updated iMac models this morning. The tests found that Apple latest iMace were generally faster than previous versions, although certain BTO models from last year still outperformed them in some tests.

The new top of the line 3.1ghz i5 iMac beat out the previous high-end model in every test, and it notable performed 16 percent faster in Speedmark 65, and 22 percent faster in MacWorld’s iTunes encoding test.

The full results are presented here by Macworld. Even though last year’s BTO models were beasts, and in some cases are still speed demons, this new lineup is nevertheless extremely impressive. Great job, Apple!
