The Release Of Lion And New MacBook Airs Next Month Will Spike Mac Sales

According to the latest NPD sales numbers, the Mac is indeed (as John Paczkowski so elegantly put it) kicking ass – serious ass. Mac sales for Q2, ending in June, are expected to rise well above PC sales numbers once more, according to a report from AllThingsD.

Apple’s Mac sales have already risen 15% in just the first two months of the quarter, making a significant jump. And if Apple really does release new MacBook Airs (or Mac Minis, or Mac Pros) next month, those numbers could really rocket forward in a HUGE way. MacBook Air refreshes, due to the immense popularity of the impossibly thin notebook, always boost sales in a pretty tremendous way, and will now do so even more as they continue to gain popularity.

If you figure in the July release of OS X Lion, then you really have an exciting figure, as Mac OS releases have always, historically speaking, served to accelerate sales. And OS X Lion, due to both the significance of its improvements and additions, as well as its immensely low price, will likely perform above average in this respect.
