Two iPhone 4s To Be Sent To Space.

Space. The final iFrontier.

It was announced at WWDC that a pair of iPhone 4s will be sent into space on a daring not-so-secret mission. Cult of Mac reports that a specialized experimental science app is set to be rocketed high above the clouds in the next few weeks.

Space Shuttle Atlantis, launch date July 8th, will include two iPhone 4s in its itinerary that have the app SpaceLab from Odyssey Space Research installed. The apps are to be used for space research, and not just for playing Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. The iPhone 4s  will remain on Atlantis for several months and will help Astronauts with determining their relative position from Earth.

I wonder what the coverage is like up in space? Whatever the coverage, their data plan will need to be out of this World… (bad pun).
