Using Your iPhone As An External iPad Keyboard

Using Your iPhone As An External iPad Keyboard

Have you ever wished you had an external iPad keyboard, but don’t want to spend the money to buy one? Do you have an iPhone? If you answered yes to both questions, there’s good news! A great $0.99 iOS app called External Keyboard ($0.99, App Store Link) will let you use your iPhone as an external keyboard for your iPad!

While this won’t work system-wide due to restrictions within the iOS SDK, this app will allow you to use your iPhone as wither a bluetooth or WiFi keyboard for your iPad as long as the app is open on both devices. The app works by assuming the form of a keyboard on the iPhone, and assuming the form of a web browser on the iPad, allowing you to use the iPhone to type while surfing the web on your iPad.

While not the smoothest or most elegant solutions, this is the best that can be done unless Apple opens up this portion of the SDK. External Keyboard is available now, and can be downloaded from the App Store ($0.99, App Store Link)
