Apple May Soon Update Snow Leopard With iCloud Support

Apple seems to be preparing a new 10.6.9 update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard in order to make Snow Leopard compatible with their upcoming iCloud service, which is expected to be released in the very near future.

The indication comes through a notice that appeared in a developer’s .Mac preference pane in OS X 10.4 Tiger after he moved his MobileMe account to iCloud. The notice, pictured above, indicates that users will have to update to OS X 10.6.9 Snow Leopard in order to be able to use iCloud.

Further, users that have migrated from MobileMe to iCloud will no longer be able to use their account unless they update to Mac OS X 10.6.9 or later. iCloud requires a computer running Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.9 or later for Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks.

Apple has been testing iCloud on OS X Lion with developers, but has not been openly testing the technology under Snow Leopard.
