Apple Release iOS 5 Beta 5

Over the weekend, Apple released iOS 5 beta 5 to developers. No major new features were rolled in this beta release, with Apple opting to fix bugs and make under the hood performance improvements.

iOS 5 b5 is once again available as an OTA (over-the-air) update but you can also complete the update by connecting to a Mac/PC. To complete your OTA update to iOS 5 b5 go to Settings > General > Software Update.

If your battery is below 50%, you will need to connect to a power source to complete the update.

iTunes 10.5 beta 5 is required if you wish to update to iOS 5 b5 the traditional way. Login to the developer center to pick up the necessary files.

Apple is releasing betas of iOS 5 approximately every two weeks. However, the next update is expected for Wednesday, August 17.
