Apple Surpasses HP, Becomes Worlds Largest Mobile PC Vendor

According to the latest mobile PC sales estimates from research firm DisplaySearch, Apple is now the world’s largest mobile PC vendor with an impressive 21.1% of the global market, having shipped 13.6 million units in Q2.

DisplaySearch’s figures do count both traditional notebook PCs as well as tablets in their results, giving Apple a clear advantage, but the result is impressive nonetheless. The above chart reflects the actual sales and market share numbers.

Notably, Apple has surpassed Hewlett-Packard, the former leader of the pack in mobile PC sales, who came in with a 15% share and 9.7 million units shipped. Tablet shipments in general are up 400% year-over-year.
