Apple To Open 5 New Retail Stores On Saturday

As part of Apple’s push to open 33 new retail stores by the end of September (pushing their total over 360), Apple will be opening 2 new stores in the United States, and 3 international stores in Australia, Canada and Italy.

This is particularly notable in that it represents one of the largest batches of store openings in Apple’s history, 2nd only to their opening of 7 stores September 25 of last year.

The following 5 stores will be opened this Saturday:

Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall (Anchorage, Alaska): This will be Apple’s very first location in Alaska, and hopefully not the last.

Fashion Place Mall (Murray, Utah): This is Apple’s second store in Utah, following the Apple Store at the Gateway, and should significantly help the overcrowded nature of the Salt Lake store (I live in Utah, so I have some experience with that location).

Southland (Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia): This will be Apple’s third retail location in the greater Melbourne area, and their twelfth total store in Australia.

Conestoga (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada): This will become Apple’s 20th store in Canada, and is being placed right in the backyard of Canadian BlackBerry device maker Research In Motion.

I Gigli (Florence, Italy, pictured above): Apple’s 6th location within Italy, and the first store to hit the Florence area, filling a significant gap between their Rome store and several stores in norther Italy.

These new openings will be an exciting moment as Apple continues to push forward and expand, and they’ll certainly come in handy around the time of the iPhone 5 launch! Are any of these near you? If so, will you be visiting for the Grand Opening?
