Distracted Crime Reporter Becomes Victim Of iPhone Theft

Distracted Crime Reporter Becomes Victim Of iPhone Theft

In a truly ironic twist, crime reporter Scott McCabe was on his way home from work when, during a moment of distraction, his iPhone was snatched by a thief on the metro Red Line train.

The curious part of the tale is that fact that he was a crime and punishment reporter for The Washington Examiner, yet he himself became a victim of the very sorts of crimes he sometimes writes about.

The iPod was snatched while McCabe was relaxing on the train listening to some music, when suddenly the iPod vanished in the grips of a swift opportunistic criminal.

McCabe, in looking back on the situation, noted that he has been the “perfect victim”, and that he never should have had his iPod visible, especially so near to the door – he created the perfect criminal opportunity.

McCabe chased down the thief, and although he did not catch the thief himself, the swift work of police resulted in his iPod being recovered at another train station nearby.
