Leaked iPhone 5 Parts Suggest A Thinner Device With An 8MP Camera

With the release date of the next iPhone coming closer and closer, rumors and speculation are doing anything but slowing down. Some new supposedly leaked iPhone 5 parts suggest that the iPhone 5 will be thinner, will contain an 8MP camera, and will have some difference in button placement compared to the iPhone 4.

A blog called Greek iPhone has published photos of what appear to be iPhone 5 components. According to the report, the iPhone 5 will be thinner than the iPhone 4, and the volume buttons will be placed on the opposite side that they currently sit on the iPhone 4.

Additionally, the leaked images show that the camera module for the iPhone 5 is quite different from the iPhone 4 camera, and is significantly thinner. It also supports a higher resolution than the current iPhone 4 camera, all but confirming rumors of an 8MP camera in the iPhone 5. The part is labeled 00094 C6/11291 BB.

While Greek iPhone has provided some accurate reports in the past, this report should still be taken with skepticism, and considered mere rumor and speculation until information is verified with a teardown of a retail iPhone 5.

The above leaked audio cable also appears to confirm a change in the button placement for the iPhone 5. The cable shows the headphone jack, as well as connections for the mute switch and the volume buttons, only the volume button are positioned on the right of the device rather than the left.

While it’s possible that we are looking at parts for the iPhone 5, it’s also possible that these parts could be destined for a redesigned iPod Touch that may debut in September.
