Review: Kona’s Crate-Join The Tribe In This Addictive Puzzler

In Kona’s Crate your mission is simple; developed by Darkwind Media, the objective  is to transport the crate to Chief Kona. How you transport the crate is with a jet powered platform. You need to keep the crate on the platform throughout the entire puzzle. If the crate falls off the platform, you most likely have to start over. You can try to push the crate with the platform, which might work every now and then, but most likely you’ll have to restart. This game does take some patience for the later levels depending on your expertise.

Gameplay

Kona’s Crate is a really addictive, yet challenging game. There are two difficulties, expert and novice. The only difference I noticed between the two is that no matter what difficulty you play with, you’re timed. You do have less time to finish each puzzle on expert handling, but other than that, there’s no difference. The first few stages are pretty basic and just show how to play the game and control the platform. After that, the stages get more advanced and longer as you go through each one. Some people who start playing this game might think it’s repetitive, but it’s repetitive in a good way, like any good puzzle game on the app store. It makes it addictive. There are four campaigns featuring more than 80 levels. Once I started playing the game, I couldn’t put it down.

Graphics

Kona’s Crate is a beautiful game. It does have HD-Quality graphics. Not  much changes from stage to stage visually. The backgrounds are nice to look at in the different campaigns. The textures throughout the stages look pretty realistic such as the leaves that and the moss on the maze. Everything is just really bright and lively. The graphics keep you wanting to play more and just enjoy the gameplay.

Controls

Controlling the platform is tricky at first. You press the left and right button at the same time to make the platform and crate go u, and left it go for the platform to go down. The right and left button when pressed one at a time, do just that. For instance, you can’t hold the right or left button too long or the create will fall off the platform. Of course, simple controls for a puzzle game is pretty standard, and it works.

Verdict

Kona’s Crate is a puzzle game that keeps you glued to the screen. With 80 plus levels and 4 campaigns, there’s plenty of gameplay to last you for a wile. There are also 5 unlockable levels that can be unlocked once you gain certain achievements. The physics are right on spot. The later levels can be pretty challenging and might get somewhat difficult depending on your skills. Kona’s Crate is a good time waster, but once you’re a few levels in, you won’t want to put it down.
