Apple To Achieve Record Mac Sales For Q3 2011

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster reports on new NPD market research data indicating that Apple’s U.S. Mac sales are up 22% year-over-year for the first two months of Q2 2011, priming the company for a new all-time record in quarterly Mac sales.

This especially strong period of Mac sales is largely being attributed the Apple’s release of new MacBook Air and Mac Mini models in late July. The current 22% growth beats prior predictions of 16% growth, and places Apple on track to sell 4.5 million Macs this quarter. Apple’s prior quarterly Mac record was 4.13 million Macs in the holiday quarter of 2010.
