Fresh Rumor: Apple Tried To Buy DropBox For $800 Million

It’s long been speculated that Apple has its sights on Dropbox – a popular multi-platform  service that syncs and shares files using Cloud technologies. Fresh rumors indicate that Apple had an $800 million acquisition attempt turned down by Dropbox.

Revenues for Dropbox is expected to tip $100 million in 2011 – a figure that aroused the interest of Apple who themselves recently entered the Cloud technology sphere with the soon to be released iCloud service.

Dropbox refused the approach in favor of going public where it is expected the company will be valued at approximately $4 billion (a far shot from Apple’s bid of $800m).

Dropbox offer a free and paid service for users wishing to sync their files across multiple devices. 2GB of storage is provided for free while paid accounts exist for 50GB, 100GB and 350GB accounts respectively.
