Magma Introduces Three-Slot Thunderbolt PCIe Expansion Chassis

Despite the fact that Apple’s new Thunderbolt technology is still very young, a number of useful devices are already beginning to pop up to make great use of it. One such device, Magma’s newly-announced ExpressBox 3T, allows you to power up to 4 PCI Express devices using your Thunderbolt port.

The ability to plug PCIe devices into your MacBook opens up a wide range of possibilities, such as using powerful external video cards, video capture devices, media transcoding devices, fast data storage, and even adding new ports like USB 3 or FireWire 1600 to your Mac.

No details have been revealed about the pricing or availability of this new unit, but Magma’s website does include a form that interested buyers can fill out to be alerted when new information arises.
