Official: Apple Announces iPhone Media Event On October 4th

Apple has begun issuing media invitations for an iPhone-related event, reports The Loop, which will be held on October 4th (as prior rumors had suggested) at the Town Hall Auditorium at Apple’s Cupertino, California headquarters. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM pacific time.

The tagline on each invitation reads “Let’s talk iPhone.” and shows iOS icons for Calendar, Clock, Maps, and Phone. We’ll be bringing you news from the event as it becomes available to us.

Apple is widely expected to announce next-gen iPhone hardware, confirm whether they’ll release one device or two, and discuss the hardware and its official retail launch date. Apple is also expected to discuss iOS 5 and iCloud, as well as their release dates, and recent rumors have suggested that Facebook may officially launch their iPad app at the event.

There will only be 1 phone hence the “1” on the phone icon.

    1. Interesting observation – good eye!

      1. Jordan2084 says:

it might also be a missed call because there was no iPhone in June!

  3. me says:

Or the 1 stands for the main topic of discussion…The iphone

    1. Dedwards says:

The “lets talk” could be a hint at the recently touted speech recognition. (or am I being silly)

  4. Vinay says:

The icons in the pic means-

the date of the event (Calendar Icon),  – Oct 4 Tuesday
the time of the event (Clock Icon),    –  10:00 AM
place of the event (Maps Icon),
about the event (Phone Icon).    –   iPhone

So the pic on the invitation means nothing but the date, time, place and main topic about the event.

    1. Tim Riggs says:

Vinay that is so well observed….. Now I look at it again I tend to agree with you….

  5. Paul says:

the #1 on the top right corner of the phone icon means only 1 iPhone

  6. Gizmo says:

i think the maps icon stands for that one more thing: a new maps-app in ios 5

  7. landonempey says:

This is what I believe the icons mean:
    Calendar: Day of event
    Clock: Time of event
    Maps: Location
Phone: Since it has a 1 on it, I believe Apple will announce only 1 iPhone and I believe that will be an “iPhone 4S”
