Report: Apple To Launch 3G iPod Touch Later This Month

Although the idea of a 3G-enabled iPod touch is not new, AppleNApps has just released a new report claiming that Apple will releas a 3G iPod Touch later this month.

According to the report, which cites an anonymous source, the new iPod Touch will feature the same integrated access to 3G networks that the current 3G iPad now benefits from. The report also claims that Apple has already worked out non-contract data plans for the 3G iPod Touch.

One possible reason to release a 3G iPod Touch is iCloud – with Apple beginning to offer a large number of streaming services that require a data connection, giving the iPod touch a 3G connection seems to make sense. Doing so would enable iPod Touch users to access all of iCloud’s services, like iTunes Match, even without a WiFi connection.

Take this under skeptical advisement, however – AppleNApps does not have a proven record, and no solid evidence exists to support the release of a 3G iPod Touch, especially one due for release in less than a month.
