Rumor: Apple Finishing Work On Logic Pro X

A new report from Japanese blog Macotakara suggests that Apple may soon finish work on a new version of their Logic professional audio tool called Logic Pro X, citing a source familiar with the project.

The report claims that Apple will discontinue the Soundtrack Pro segment of Logic Studio with the update, mimicking Apple’s recent release of Final Cut Pro X, in which certain aspects of the software were discontinued.

Logic Pro X will reportedly encompass certain existing production tools, such as WaveBurner, directly into the core functionality of Logic Pro. Additionally, Apple’s MainStage virtual instrument and effect software is slated to be released as a separate application.

The report goes on to suggest that Apple will maintain a more complex user interface for Logic Pro X rather than relying on a simple GarageBand-style interface. The report does not include any information relating to a possible release date.
