iOS 5 Launch Causes Three Fold Increase In Twitter Signups

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has revealed that Twitter signups via iOS devices have tripled since iOS 5 was launched last Wednesday, reports Mashable, specifically stating that iOS 5 devices were the driving force behind the new growth.

Among iOS 5’s many new features is deep Twitter integration that can be used almost system wide. The integration allows you to sign into Twitter only once through Settings, and use your Twitter account with any app that supports the integration.

It also makes it easier to view tweets or sent a tweet to anyone in your contact book that has a Twitter address listed in their address book entry, as well as making it easier to quickly tweet links or photos.

iOS 5 provides a lot of great reasons to link a Twitter account, so it’s not surprising that the update is causing a significant rise in Twitter signups. Still, a three-fold increase in signups in less than a week is pretty impressive.

Twitter is the very first third-party service to gain deep integration into iOS.
