iPhone 4S Sales At Apple Retail Stores Now Reservation Only

Hoping to casually walk into an Apple Retail Store and pick up an iPhone 4S? Think again. MacRumors reports that Apple has updated its “how to buy” page for the 4S to reflect that the device will now only be sold by reservation at Apple Retail Stores in the US, U.K. and Canada.

In order to reserve an iPhone 4S, customers will need to visit the iPhone 4S “How to Buy” page before 9 p.m in the evening to reserve an iPhone to pick up the next day, and then select which store they’d like to pick their iPhone at.

iPhone 4S is available in store by reservation only. Reserve yours after 9:00 p.m. tonight for pickup tomorrow. When you come in, you’ll choose a carrier and plan, and we’ll get your iPhone up and running before you leave the store.

Some stores may still continue to sell the iPhone 4S to walk-in customers, but their on-hand supplies are quickly depleting, making it necessary to implement a reservation program in order to manage demand.

*Update: Many stores are reporting no units available for reservation using this method, suggesting that all available stock has been sold out.
