Those who have been testing iOS 5 for the past few months have previously been unable to take advantage of iOS 5’s Newsstand function. Newsstand has now gone live, and magazines that support NewsStand (Wired, for instance) are now working with the service.
Newsstand is Apple’s way of consolidating all of your subscription magazine and newspaper content into one place (at least for those magazines, periodicals, and newspaper apps that support it). Newsstand is essentially a folder designed to look like a bookcase that houses all of your subscription content and automatically updates your subscriptions to make sure you have the latest content.
A dedicated store button has now begun appearing within Newsstand to owners of devices with the iOS 5 GM already installed. Clicking the store button brings you to a new section of the iTunes Store filled with digital magazines and other types of content that work with Newsstand.
