Angry Birds Reaches 500 Million Downloads

Angry Birds developer Rovio has announced that the 500 millionth copy of their popular iOS and Android game has been downloaded. It is the first app ever to pass the half million mark, and is a true milestone for the developer.

The statistics are truly remarkable: Angry Birds fans have played over 200,000 years worth of Angry Birds, which is equivalent to 300 million minutes. If that wasn’t enough, over 400 billion birds have been launched into action. It is the number one game in over 79 countries, and their Youtube videos have been viewed over 200 million times.

With Rovio planning to expand their franchise to China, they have projected a revenue of $100 million in their first year. Rovio is already easily the most popular app developer, and hitting this revenue projetion would make them a true powerhouse in the technology world.
