Apple Gains Control of iPhone-Related Mobile Porn Domain Names

Apple has gained control over a number of domain names from pornographic websites, reports Domain Name Wire, after initially filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization earlier this month.

The domains in question forwarded to mobile porn sites, and included iPhoneCam4S.com, and more notably, iPhone4S.com, violating known Apple trademarks.

The case was terminated after the owner of the domains voluntarily transferred the domains to Apple, and the Whois data for domains in question has been changed to MarkMonitor, a brand protection agency used by Apple and many other companies.

Of the seven total domain names in question, the only one Apple is expected to actually use is iPhone4S.com, which will likely redirect to Apple’s iPhone 4S product page.

Be warned, however, that these domains are currently still forwarding to mobile porn sites, although Apple is expected to remedy that matter as quickly as possible.
