Apple Ranked as Second Most Desirable Employer for Young Workers

Apple now ranks as the second most desirable company for young workers, reports the Wall Street Journal. A recent survey by Universum, which involved approximately 6,700 early career professionals, reveals that Google is the most desirable company to work at for young people, with Facebook rounding off the top three.

Almost 20% of those asked chose Google, with Apple a considerable way off with just under 13%. Other technology companies to make the top ten were Amazon, Microsoft and Sony. Six the top ten companies are in the technology industry, which shows how powerful and dominant the technology market has become.

2011 is the second year that this survey had been conducted, and technology companies are becoming more and more popular. Chris Cordery, the Director of Universum, claimed that “Google has established a very strong brand in what its culture is, in what it’s like to work there.” It will be tough to beat Google’s appeal, which is arguably down the fact that’s it’s a relatively young company, having only been set up just over a decade ago, and also that it really is a key tool in today’s lifestyle.
