Apple Set to Become World’s Largest PC Vendor

According to the latest data from research firm Canalys, Apple is on track to become the world’s largest PC manufacturer, overtaking the current leader, HP.

Of course, the figures provided by Canalys only work if the iPad is included in the count, and there is some dispute over whether iPads should count as PC’s (although they do seem to be replacing home computers to some extent).

Apple is expected to take the lead either late this year or early 2012, depending on how well the iPad performs in holiday sales. The company already takes the lead as the number one mobile PC vendor.
