Apple Considering Universal Power Adapter for Macbook, iOS Devices

Apple Considering Universal Power Adapter for Macbook, iOS Devices

It’s long been a dream to have one charger for all of your gadgets, and this could be happening in the near future. Apple Insider reports on a new Apple patent which suggests that Apple may be developing a universal power adaptor to charge both MacBooks and iOS devices.

Instead of having to carry both MacBook and iPhone/iPad chargers, you would only need one charger. The patent also noted that many chargers are bulky, so they are not great to travel with – a problem which is lessened with a universal adapter.

I think this could potentially be a great product, especially for people who purchase mainly Apple products. It’s something that’s needed, and to be able to charge both your notebook and your mobile devices of the same charger would be way more practical.

Since this is just a patent, it’s unclear whether it will ever make it to the consumer market, as many Apple patents never come to fruition, but this does present an exciting possibility for the future of Apple’s power adapters (at least until wireless power becomes the norm).
