iPhone Accounts For 52% Of Global Cell Phone Profits

Cannacord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley has revealed some interesting financial stats about the iPhone, reports BGR: Despite controlling only 4% of the global cell phone market, Apple accounts for a whopping 52% of global mobile phone profits.

Walkley figures the world’s top eight cell phone vendors into his numbers, claiming that Apple accounts for 52% of the operating income between the 8 vendors – and that figure is down from the previous’ quarter result of 57%.

These numbers reflect the standing of each of the eight vendors from July through September – just prior to the release of the iPhone 4S – but the numbers are nevertheless extremely interesting, and very revealing of who is profiting the most from their devices.
