Microsoft Emulates Apple, Announces that Windows 8 will be Delivered Digitally

Microsoft has stated on their official blog that Windows 8 will be available mainly as a digital download, mirroring Apple’s all-digital move with OS X Lion.

Steven Sinofsky, the president of Microsoft’s Windows division, also claimed that he wanted to satisfy two different types of customers with the new system: those who want a hassle free installation and those who want to do a clean install with more options and control.

There is one difference between Apple’s system however, in that Windows will still offer a boxed DVD version of the OS, but it’s clear that Apple has something to do with Microsoft’s change of mind.
