South Korea Lifts Ban on iOS Games Ahead of iPhone 4S Release

South Korea has removed their ban on games in the App Store, according to a report from The Next Web. All App Store games had been banned for almost two years due to concerns about content by the country’s Games Ratings Board. The ban was lifted this morning, much to the delight of all iOS users in South Korea.

This announcement comes only days before the release of the iPhone 4S in Asia, and Apple will no doubt be relieved to hear the restriction has been removed, as South Korea is one of the iPhone’s largest markets.

This is also great news for Korean game developers. The ability to publish games will no doubt create close competition between app developers, as they become desperate to conquer the newly formed Korean iOS games market.

Users in Korea will now be able to download games directly from their country’s store, instead of having to create separate accounts in order to use other international stores. The iPhone 4S is due out on the 11th of November in the country, so users will have plenty of time to download and test games on the new device.
