Apple to Produce Two Million Additional iPhone 3GS by Year’s End

The iPhone 3GS continues to be quite popular even two years after its release. According to DigiTimes, Apple is set to produce an additional two million 3GS units before the end of the year.

The iPhone 3GS’ popularity is largely due to its new “free with contract” price in the U.S., which is significantly boosting Apple’s penetration into the low cost entry-level market.

The first quarter of 2012 is expected to show strong iPhone 3GS sales as well, with up to 1.6 million devices set to be produced early next year.
