iMAME Pulled from the App Store

Earlier this week an app called iMAME hit the App Store, allowing fans to play vintage arcade games on the iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately, Apple has now pulled the app from the App Store.

The app allowed users to easily add their own ROMs using a tool like iExplorer, potentially allowing games like Super Mario World and others (which haven’t previously been seen on iOS) to be played on Apple’s popular devices.

Unfortunately, the licensing for the ROM’s necessary to run each game is more or less unavailable, and it’s likely that these sorts of licensing issues make up the reason for iMAME being pulled.

RIP, iMame. We barely new ye.
