iPhone 4S & iPad 2 Jailbreak Likely Coming Soon

Well-known iOS hacker pod2g has released a status update on his blog regarding a possible untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S. He reports that he’s close to figuring it out, although he still has a few roadblocks to overcome.

Hello.

Here are the news of the 4S week-end.

The untether fails right now because I’m having processor cache issues.

I’m close, but I can’t figure out what happens. It certainly has something to do with the Cortex-A9 cache management.

I could sort it out quick, it’s a matter of chance.

I’ll report you my progress tomorrow.

Pod2G has been working mainly on Apple’s A4-equipped devices – the iPhone 4, 1st-gen iPad and so forth, but it is good to know that he has made progress on Apple’s A5 processor as well. If he can manage to produce a working jailbreak for the iPhone 4S, an iPad 2 jailbreak is also likely.

Whether or not pod2g is able to work out an untethered jailbreak, the sum of his previous posts and hints suggest that some form of iPhone 4S jailbreak should become available in the near future.

As usual, we’ll keep you posted on the status of this.
