Syria Bans iPhones to Deter Civil Rights Activists. Steve Jobs’ Biological Father Joins the Protest

Authorities in Syria have issued a ban on the use of iPhones in the country, reports TheNextWeb, citing a Lebanese news source. Anti-violence activist are being served with notices, stating that “The authorities warn anyone against using the iphone in Syria.”

Protestors are speaking out against civil rights violations, calling for political reforms, the political protection of civil rights, and an end to violence and unrest in the country.

Syrian authorities have been actively targeting parts of the country that do not support the government, and have been unresponsive to outcries and criticism from their own citizens, as well as neighboring countries.

The banning of iPhones, which the government believes helps protestors to capture and violent acts, is just another step in the government’s restrictions attempting to prevent the truth from being reported.

Meanwhile, 9to5Mac reports that Steve Jobs’ biological father, Abdulfattah John Jandali, who is a Syrian native, has joined a protest movement on YouTube to express solidarity with the Syrian peoples’ demands.
