Tablet Prices Expected to Drop Considerably in 2012

Tablet prices are expected to drop by 15.7% next year, AllThingsD reports. In actual price terms, that means that the average price of an iPad will decrease from $529 to $446. That’s a pretty considerable price decrease, so it will be worth waiting if you’re thinking of buying a tablet anytime soon.

There has also been a 20% reduction in price for the current quarter, most likely due to the Kindle Fire, which is shipping fast, sources say. As companies try to compete with cheaper tablets, they are forced into dropping their prices and taking a lower profit margin.
