Twitter for iPhone 4.0: Faster, Simpler, and an Amazing New Interface

Twitter has released an all-new version of their iPhone application today, Twitter 4.0 (free, App Store link), to compliment their all-new website design. The new app includes a brand new interface, and four new tabs along the bottom: Home, Connect, Discover, and Me.

The changes look awesome, and actually seem to make it faster and easier to use Twitter, combining like sets of features all into the same section.

What’s New in Version 4.0
Please note that the following changes are available only on iPhone:

The latest version of Twitter offers a faster, simpler way to stay close to everything you care about on your iPhone.

Home is where you start from: a personal collection of Tweets from the sources you care about. The Tweet details show rich information such as replies, retweets and embedded images.

Connect is the place to see who followed or mentioned you, retweeted or favorited one of your Tweets. It’s where you keep the conversation flowing.

Discover is where you can tap into the stories and trends people are talking about in your world. You can also find friends, browse interests, and explore hashtags here.

Me puts you and your interests front and center. From here you can exchange Direct Messages with your followers.

All in all, this is an amazing update: faster, easier to use, and the new interface is amazing. The new interface and features are iPhone-only at present, but an iPad update is presumably in the works as well.

Twitter 4.0 is available now as a free download from the App Store (free, App Store link). Check out the below video to see more, and check out fly.twitter.com for a complete explanation of the changes to both the website and app.
