Apple Hires Adobe Exec Todd Teresy to Run iAd Program

It’s no secret that Apple’s iAd mobile advertising platform hasn’t been as successful as the company would like. However, that may be about to change, as Bloomberg’s Adam Satariano reports that Apple has hired Adobe executive Todd Teresy to head up (and revamp) their iAd program.

Teresi has served as VP of Adobe’s Media Solutions division for the past nine months, and previously held prominent positions with Quantcast, Yahoo, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  Teresi also has a history of working with interactive advertising.

iAd has failed to take off, due partly to Apple’s high pricing and demands for creative control.  The platform was launched in July 2010, shortly following Apple’s acquisition of mobile ad firm Quattro Wireless

Apple’s iAd program was previously led by Quattro founder and CEO Andy Miller, but Miller left Apple in September 2011 in favor of a position in venture capital. iAd has been overseen by Eddy Cue on the meantime, who is also responsible for several other areas, including the iTunes Store, the App Store, iBookstore, and iCloud.
