iOS Apps Help With Home Improvement Projects

There are apps for everything, as we all know, but perhaps one of the most impressive uses for an iOS devices can be found in DIY home improvement projects, the New York Times reports. A number of different apps have come out for this purpose, a lot of them free, which offer stunning 3D graphics and design tools.

Houzz features a design gallery with over 260,000 high resolution photos to choose from. God knows how much space that takes up on your device, but the choice is impressive. Home Design 3D for iPad ($6) or iPhone ($4) offers slightly more advanced possibilities: you can fully reinvent a room and create something totally personalised. According to the New York Times:

You start by dragging a finger across the screen to create a room with the dimensions of one in your home. This is, naturally, an easier and more aesthetically pleasing process on an iPad than on a smaller device. Next, you drag furniture, fixtures, windows and doorways to the room, and adjust their measurements to conform to the features of your room. You can then press a button and view the room in 3-D. In the 3-D view, you can change the colors of anything you like, or put wood paneling or floorboards into place. To rearrange the furniture, re-enter the 2-D mode and drag things where you like.

Interior design apps have come a long way, and they will no doubt keep becoming more advanced if the hardware continues to develop as well.
