Kanye West on Innovation: ‘We need to pick up where Steve Jobs left off’

American rapper and recording artist Kanye West put out a long series of tweets last night discussing innovation and design, at one point stating: “we can collectively effect the world trough design. We need to pick up where Steve Jobs left off.”

US Magazine reports:

Donda will “pick up where Steve Jobs left off,” West said of the late, visionary Apple founder. With 22 divisions of writers, DJs, publicists, designers, musicians, scientists and much more, the company will strive to “make products and experiences that people want and can afford,” West said, “to help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel,” and “dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need.. To marry our wants and needs.”

Unfortunately, I originally mischaracterized Kanye’s comments, instead telling a story in which he was comparing himself to Jobs. In reality, West was stating a simple and rather inspiring message about improving education, and “redesigning” the world to be a better place.

My apologies to Kanye and all of you who commented to let me know just how wrong I was about his comments. Good luck, Kanye. If you can achieve even half of what you stated on Twitter, the world will be a better place. I encourage you all to read Kanye’s actual tweets to get the best idea of what he was actually stating.
