Verizon More Than Doubled iPhone Sales During the Holiday Quarter – 4.2 Million Sold

As part of his presentation for a global entertainment, media and communications conference today, reports Bloomberg, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo revealed that the company had sold 4.2 million iPhones during the fourth quarter of 2011 – more than double the previous quarter’s sales.

The record sales numbers are due in part to the launch of the iPhone 4S, Apple’s most popular and fastest-selling device ever, as well as the holiday shopping influx and the availability of the iPhone 4 at significantly reduced prices.

Apple’s fiscal Q1 earnings call is set for January 24th, and Apple will provide details regarding the total number of iPhones sold during the holiday quarter.
