Amazon to Open Retail Store in Seattle This Year?

Amazon is planning to open their first ever physical store in Seattle in the next few months, Good E-Reader reports. Even though Amazon is not totally decided on changing their model, this store will be a test to see how things go. It will probably follow Apple’s model, and focus on Amazon’s tablets and e-readers.

Whether Amazon’s new venture will take off and be able to compete with the Apple Store with regard to table stores will be interesting to see, but the stores would reportedly be quite small in comparison to Apple Stores.

This is definitely a surprising move for Amazon, as the genius of their business is that they do not have to pay the costs of running stores. Creating stores would therefore remove one of the key money making points of their business even though, according to reports, their stores would only be for tablets and e-readers.
