Apple Grabs Nearly 20% of All U.S. Consumer Electronics Revenue in 2011 Holiday Quarter

According to the latest data from NPD (via MacRumors), Apple grabbed 19% of all U.S. sales dollars for consumer electronics during the holiday quarter – an interesting data point in what became the single best quarter in Apple’s entire history.

Apple fell behind only Wal-Mart and Best Buy in terms of total quarterly revenue – which is especially significant considering that Apple represents only a single brand, while Wal-Mart and Best-Buy carry a horde of products from all sorts of consumer electronics brands. Apple was also the only brand among the top 5 to post a year-over-year increase from 2010 – and a 36% increase at that!

Also notable in the report is that tablet sales have more than doubled since 2010, due largely to the immense success of the iPad, which makes up 60% of total tablet sales in 2011.
